SERVICES

ENERGY/WATER MASTER PLANNING

iStock_000005457175XSmall.jpg

We provide Master Planning services (including Master Metering Planning) for new and existing buildings and campuses’ retrofit projects, capital improvements such as CHP (Combined Heat and Power).  We also conduct feasibility studies such as TES (Thermal Energy Storage), District Heating and Cooling, as prelude to the detailed and intensive master planning. We are familiar with federal, state and local protocols, standards and guidelines, and procedures to plan for complex, sophisticated and challenging mechanical and energy systems to achieve sustainable high-performance buildings and campuses. Such planning allows institutions to make key decisions in resources utilization, action prioritization, timing and cost budget, and fund raising. Our engineers have expertise knowledge and extensive experience with energy master planning on various types of buildings, especially for large campuses with central utility plants, and we are proficient in modeling and simulation, including modeling and deployment of utility accounting/billing systems (Rate Model).

Energy Audit

ENERGY AUDIT

We offer a broad choice of energy studies ranging from a quick walk-through of a facility to identify major problems and opportunities, to comprehensive analyses of implications of alternative energy efficiency measures.  Our engineers conduct energy audits in accordance with standards developed by the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating, and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE), including: Preliminary Energy Use Analysis, Level I – Walk-Through Analysis, Level II – Energy Survey and Engineering Analysis, and Level III – Thorough Analysis of Capital-Intensive Measures.

We also facilitate Investment-Grade Audits (IGV), which provide our clients sufficient technical and economic evaluation for decision-making on feasibilities of desired projects.

Our Engineering Advisor, Dr. Warren Heffington, Ph.D., P.E., AEE's key CEM® instructor, Associate Professor Emeritus of Texas A&M University and the retired Founding Director of the DOE funded Industrial Assessment Center (IAC) at Texas A&M University, is a recognized national and international “guru” in energy audits and assessments.

Modeling

ENERGY SYSTEMS MODELING

We possess proven expertise and dozens of years of experiences in building and systems modeling and simulation. Some of our expertise and services include: Building Energy Modeling (BEM); Building Information Modeling (BIM); Utilities accounting and billing modeling (Rate Model); Hydraulic modeling and study; Building HVAC system modeling and simulation; Central Utility Plant (CUP) modeling and performance simulation; and state-of-the-arts Chiller performance modeling and FDD (Fault Detection and Diagnostics).

Commissioning

BUILDING & CENTRAL PLANT COMMISSIONING

Bee® is a Certified Building Commissioning Firm (CBCF) of the Association of Energy Engineers (AEE) and a corporate member of the Building Commissioning Association (BCA). We have 6 staff with the CBCP® (Certified Building Commissioning Professional) certification, and we were tasked by DOE and the AEE to develop and provide training on Advanced Retro-Commissioning in preparation for the Masters Level CBCP® Certification

We offer the full spectrum of commissioning services defined by the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE), including Commissioning (Cx), Re-Commissioning (Re-Cx), and Retro-Commissioning (RCx). We also offer Monitoring-Based Commissioning (MBCx), which emphasizes sustainable performance and optimization; Facility Energy Commissioning (FECx) and Existing Building Energy Commissioning (EBECx) specially focused on energy conservation and efficiency; and Life-Cycle Building Commissioning (LCBCx)

O&M Optimization

O&M OPTIMIZATION

Combining several hundred years of field engineering experience and modern IT solutions, we build a smart energy management platform to realize sustained performance and optimization through Monitoring-Based Cx (MBCx).

Our virtual-reality facility and campus intelligent energy management platform, VisionBee®, offer:

Real-time Automated Fault Detection and Diagnostics (AFDD): Automatically detects faults and isolates fault causes to reduce energy penalties due to faulty operation; reduces maintenance costs, improves building comfort, and prevents further damage to equipment and other interconnected system equipment; automatically evaluates the overall fault impact on reliability, comfort and energy consumptions; provides our clients with sufficient information to prioritize maintenance job orders.

Remote energy management: Allows 24/7 web-based remote energy monitoring to help effectively manage energy consumption and decrease various costs.

Performance M&V

PERFORMANCE AND SAVINGS M&V

Measurement & Verification (M&V) is the process of using measurement to scientifically and reliably determine actual savings created by an energy efficiency project.  We offer third-party independent Measurement & Verification (M&V) services with in-house Engineering Ph.D.s and Certified Measurement and Verification Professionals (CMVP®) following the International Performance Measurement and Verification Protocol (IPMVP).  We promote the 3M principle: Measure, Manage, and Maximize.

Training

TRAINING

We provide flexible, continuous, and effective training to our clients’ in-house management and M&O team in both the classroom and field to ensure continued knowledge growth of staff members and persistent performance of our Bee measures. We also offer specialized training courses on Energy Management (AEE's CEM®), Energy Audit (AEE’s CEA®), Building Automation & Controls System, Building Commissioning (AEE’s CBCP®), advanced Retro-Commissioning (RCx) and Life-Cycle Building Commissioning (LCBCx) (AEE's CBCP®-Masters Level).
